smaller hard drives ?

Hey guys im after a hard drive to window mod and put facing outwards in the front of my PC.

normal 3.5'' HDDS are just ... and i mean JUST too ong to fit ( cant plug em in without killing my caase)

so...
are there any SHORTER hard drives out there? cant seem to find any basic measurtments of laptiop drives :(

i know laptop drives are thinner although im not sure if they are actually any shorter

I won't ask how hard you have been looking but on a straight link through from OcUK's website you get to Hitachi Travelstar 7K60 series ;) Basically all laptop hard drives are almost exactly the same size so you are looking at 10cm end to end plus you will need a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter so that you can use the ordinary IDE cable which will add a bit. Hope that helps :)
 
There are 2.5" SATA drives out there from Hitachi & Seagate but I don't think OCUK stock them. They take standard SATA power and data cables so no need for clumsy adaptors and big cables - might be what you want if there are windows involved.
 
or if you want to go even further and make it silent I have on mine an ide to compact flash adapter and a 6gb compact flash card, about 4 inches square altogether I think
