Smallest possible widescreen monitor?

Im interested in getting the smallest possible widescreen monitor. Can anyone recommend any widescreen monitors, smaller than 15" ?

What are your uses, budget and exact size range requirements? If you want a small, cheap widescreen monitor that is around 15" you may be out of luck unless you are a bit cafty and want a DIY job.
 
uses will most likely be gaming, but im not looking for any fancy 1ms stuff. As long as its small, it will do. budget is unknown right now, so don't take that into consideration. Im just looking for options.
 
I'm just curious as to why you want a monitor of this size unless you have some very specific plans for it. Your options are very limited at that size which is why I asked those questions. Generally you can get panels or 'modules' of that size that are designed for use on laptops but I am not aware of standalone widescreen monitors of that size. The closest you would come to something like that would probably be a digital photo frame.
 
well, its to go with a shuttle pc, in a relatively small space. it basically needs to be widescreen, and as small as possible. thats all im looking for right now. I just don't know exactly how small you can get widescreen monitors before they become 4:3
 
The smallest size for a standalone widescreen LCD monitor currently is around 19" (sometimes 18.5" screen size). You may find the odd widescreen TV dotted about that is that size but you will be paying way over the odds for features you don't want or need. The only 15" widescreen I can think of that is currently available to buy new is the LG 15EL9500 OLED TV. If you're super rich and/or slightly mad I'd go for that one. But it costs nearly £2000. :D

Thinking more constructively - you should measure out the space you will have for the monitor. If this is a hypothetical space leave it for now and slot it in when you're sure of the measurements. You may be underestimating the space you will have available. You can get plenty of very thin monitors with small footprints and they are smaller than you'd think, overall.
 
It's quite old. I thought it was discontinued but if you don't have enough space for a 19" widescreen that's one to consider.
 
That Acer looks very nice, and its very cheap. It also looks identical to my 22" im using right now.

I've had a rummage through some of my old office monitors (actually I got some poor sod to do that for me ;)). If you want something a bit higher calibre but not too much more expensive the 17 inch Dell IN1720N is a pretty good one. It offers a higher resolution (but an extra inch) as well as a pretty well-rounded picture using default settings.

Great description there for that monitor - a printer!! :D. That GreenHouse USB monitor is a bit pricey for a 15.6 incher I'd say. Interesting concept though - Samsung have a similar 18.5" USB-powered monitor in the works apparently. Supposedly consumes only 6W typically but I'd love to know how bright it doesn't get. ;)
 
But they're vastly expensive per unit area, feature relatively poor resolutions and are particularly unresponsive. Unless you need to use it away from active power sources it's not really worth it.
