Smart Access Memory with a 3700X

I'm wondering whether my 3700X (which has 24 PCI-E 4.0 lanes) that I am using on an ASUS X470 Prime (which has 32 PCI-E 3.0 lanes) would be able to make use of the AMD 6000 GPU Smart Access Memory thing if the graphics card "decides to use the CPU's PCIE bandwidth and not the chipset bandwidth" (clearly I am not very technically minded about this). After all the memory controller is on the CPU... right? Nothing to do with the X470 chipset itself?

Any ideas whether it will work?

It may become available with future BIOS / driver updates. It is not unusual for AMD to introduce a new feature on the latest / high end hardware first, and then bring it to previous generation hardware in future updates.
