smart casual????

Thanks guys
i don't want to over do it and go to smart do i?

Generally I'd err on the side of looking too smart than too casual.

However for a smart casual dress code it would normally be expected that you'd wear trousers (not jeans although if you must wear them then I'd suggest black jeans), a shirt and a decent pair of shoes (probably brown rather than black but either could be worn). You could take a tie in case but it shouldn't be necessary. That's not to say that you might not get the job being more casually dressed but if you want to adhere to the dress code suggestion that's how you'd normally do it.

Hi guys
Iv got an Discover O2 Event/interview with o2 on the 23ed of this month and The dress code is smart casual. So is that a nice pair of jeans and a tshirt/shirt or is it a shirt,black pants, and a tie????

I always treat smart/casual and shoes, pants and shirt with either a nice jacket or sweater. Dont bother with a suit jacket or my tie as I consider that business dress or formal.

Smart casual means smart without the tie and jacket for me. So yes, that means pants, shoes and shirt.

Why do people from manchester call trousers pants?

Nope, only kids and Americans get confused between pants and underpants. Pants (derived from pantaloons which were trousers) are worn OVER your UNDERpants. Get it?

Nice jeans and a decent shirt with a proper (suit) jacket will do.

that was sort of fashionable for a brief period about 5 years ago but doesn't really constitute smart casual...

@OP

just wear trousers (not jeans!) and a shirt & you'll be 'business casual' which is prob what they mean

they might let you wear jeans but seriously don't wear a suit jacket on top - you'll just look silly.
