smart clothes for work

Some people have no life skills whatsoever.

How is this even a question.....you've been there three times already and seen how your colleagues dress.....dress the same to start with.

Someone mentioned Next, take their advice. I often wear Next suits for day-to-day office attire. They don't wear quickly and they keep their shape well, whilst not being overpriced.

I did get lucky with an M&S suit the first time I bought one and it is still going, the next couple were really poor.

Had good success with suits and shirts from Next. Have found that they're one of the few places that actually have a proper "slim" fit which doesn't look like some ridiculous fashion statement where everything is too tight, and also doesn't look too baggy and big like I've borrowed my Dad's suit.

They last well and are very reasonably priced too.

I tend to wear smart casual around the office, quality jeans, jacket, shirt, shoes and suits for meetings of importance usually with a tie.

I work for another of the big 4. In the office it's smart shoes, trousers and shirt. No tie. And sleeves rolled up cos I hate smart clothes.

Blue/grey suit jacket and trousers, smart black or brown shoes, white/pink/blue shirts, and I carry a tie for when I'm meeting clients/partners.

You put on a tie for company seniors? Surely you walk past/talk to them enough for them to know that a tie is not your standard fare?

I would consider that smart clothing tbh

I wear tshirts jeans or chinos whatever the hell I want, it's great and I'm even meeting "clients" daily

I'm sure they would like me to wear a smart shirt with a tie, but I don't. I go in a t-shirt and jeans. There's just no need to wear smart clothes what so ever.

I do, however, dress slightly smarter when I know I'm going to be meeting a customer, supplier, auditor, etc. Though even then it's slight-smarter-jeans or pants and a nice top or jumper. Never a shirt and tie!

Entirely depends what the company is/does though. A lot of places demand a suit or similar. To me that's totally crazy, but there you go!

I can't wait for a Star Trek universe, go to work in your Jim Jams and fire pew pew lasers at people who don't.

A pity I won't live long enough for the suit wearing generation to die a well deserved death.

Only for partners really. It's a fairly normal thing in my office. You don't often walk past a partner, they are usually very busy or not in the office a great deal.

Jeans and a polo shirt or shirt and pullover, does it depend on your position in the company?

I will maybe go for trousers, shirt and tie if I'm forced to meet customers or important visitors. Some days I get stuck in and wear a boiler suit.
