Smart meter - in house unit using wrong tariff details

Does anyone know how to do something about this? I can't find a user setting, so is the tariff information sent by the provider?
The gas figure is way out (3.16p per unit - if only!) so the £ figures it gives for actual use are way out.

Takes a few days to update I think
Mmore that a few days - it's been months since the rate was 3p per kWh!

Mind you, the gas side of it hasn't been working for months at all to send readings to the supplier, and for about a month to send them, to the in house unit.

I tried to raise that issue to Scottish Power, and found out just how pathetic their contact process is. A chat bot which only has about 5 really specific issues that you can choose from, and if it's not one of those, there is no route at all to raise a problem.

I was just building up to ringing them instead when I got an email saying there was a problem with my meter and they weren't getting readings - only several months after the issue started - and telling me how to reset it, which has worked at least.

Anyway, I'll keep an eye on it for the next few days to see if the in house reader updates the rates, and try again (no doubt frustratingly) to contact them if it does not.

I sent a complaint to bulb today about the same issue and holding them to their rates otherwise getting the ombudsman involved
If only it was even possible to simply send a complaint to Scottish Power. Their contact system is abysmal. I will be getting solar panels in Feb, so no doubt leaving them for Octopus - this is another good reason to cart them off.

Our electric meter has been stuck on the wrong electric rate for over a year ... even after complaining....

Blimey don't be silly the meter just starts with some default setting and then has to update itself.

The issue is that either it doesn't update or the supplier is sending it the wrong tariff information. My parents have had that problem since they got their one, and SSE say they don't know why it's wrong.

For those that have dodgy meters but want to see the data, I strongly suggest signing up to Blink. It pulls all of your smart meter data from the central database. Useful to see up to half hourly readings.

@bazzabear can you explain the reset procedure for the ihd please.

I have no reset procedure for the IHD. It was the gas meter itself which I had to reset as it wasn't sending readings to either the IHD or to the supplier. I can find that and post it if it would be useful.

My IHD is still using the wrong tariff for gas, and therefore giving a wrong £ reading (about 1/3 of reality). I've just got off a webchat where I finally spoke to an actual person. Not that it was a lot more helpful.

They told me the IHD was faulty so they would send a new one.

I said I couldn't see how it was a fault. It is correctly reflecting the kWh use - just the tariff is set wrong so they need to send updated tariff information.

They said that actually it's a network fault, and my meter isn't sending readings at all and that's why the IHD is showing incorrect information.

I told them that was the case, but I reset the meter on the 22nd, since when I can see that the online read out and the IHD readout both match the usage showing on the meter itself, so it definitely is sending readings.

So they told me that the IHD is faulty again and they should send a new one.

I said again - I can't see how that can be the cause. It's just got the wrong tariff set. But if you think a new IHD will fix it, feel free to send one.

They said it surely will.

So I have to wait for the new IHD now. I guess there's a good chance it will fix the issue - assuming the new IHD already has the correct tariff information set. And I suppose that it is possible there is a fault which is stopping them sending updated tariff information to the current IHD. But it sounds a lot more like the person didn't have the faintest idea.

Cheers @bazzabear . The online readings are correct, it's just the ihd that has the wrong tarrifs.

Can't face Scottish powers terrible online chat. I'll just leave it

Let us know if the new ihd is any better!

I'm with EDF and my tariff changed on the 01 Dec 22, I chatted several times just to be told it would take 2 weeks each time I spoke to them! Finally changed over on the 1st Jan 23 so I can now see the shock figure every day :)
