Smart Meter installation warning!

I keep getting hassled from First Utility to have one installed (numerious phone calls, letters and emails). If it was possible to use the same meter for any (or even most) providers then I'd do it so save taking a reading each month but cba with having one installed then changing provider next year and doing it again etc.

I work for a company that manufactures gas meters for the big 7 companies. Due to the government back tracking this has effected us as smart meters aren't taking off as well as they liked. Anyway the company I work for now plans to move manufacturing to Romania to save costs. After receiving numerous fines for poor quality issues and price fixing I wouldn't blame anyone for not wanting one of these meters. I certainly won't be having one after seeing the quality of components used to build these things.
