Just want to ask expert opinions:-
Got a wd red 1tb through MM and plopped it in a system to check disk using ubuntu disk analyser.
Can tell its a new disk as the power up count is 8 and the time on is 22hrs. Can't run a benchmark due to ubuntu 32bit bug (grrr).
However the spin up time is reading 3 seconds.
Two other (old) drives read 170ms. Am I right in thinking that this spin up time will settle with use (given its new), or is the 3 seconds an indication of a mechanical fault?
I cant find a definitive clarification anywhere, just some.vague references that I interpret as that number being an average that comes down over time...
