Hi, does anyone know how to set up smart reponse technology?

See sig for full system.

Now, I have installed the rapid storage drivers.
entered the bios and enabled raid in sata configuration.
After saving this setting and restarting, windows fails to load.
What am I doing wrong?

Windows is currently on the hdd and the ssd is at the moment not being used.
I didn't want to install windows to ssd as i just want to excelerate using smart response. I intend to use max 64gb for cache and the remaining for normal storage.

Any advise would be very much appreciated, thanks.

RAID also enables AHCI so if you were using IDE mode before then the AHCI drivers might not be installed.

The following may work if you were using IDE mode and if you're using Win 7.

You need to apply the "Fix it" here.

Turn the controller back to IDE mode and boot as normal, run the "Fix it" in the link, restart the PC and go straight into the BIOS, change the SATA mode to RAID, save the changes and the PC will start again and hopefully you'll be OK.

FYI your signature is too long. 4 lines of text only.

Am using AHCI and WINDOWS 7.
I have tried again and managed to get into "Intel rapid storage technology option ROM utility" where it is stated my hdd and ssd is non raid. This utility then enables the user to set up the drives for raid but i'm afraid I find it a little complicated and the mobo manual doesn't explain fully what's going on.

So I am very reluctant to make any changes here, also I have an awful feeling that to get it working properly i'll have to start from scratch and format the hdd which I def do not want to do. Please say I am wrong here.

I followed your link for the fix but haven't tried it as you suggested it's a fix if I was using IDE.

Thanks for info on signature, I didn't realise it was 4 lines only, have now edited it.

Any other suggestions on the SRT issue?

You need to install Windows 7 when the BIOS is set to RAID, this is what I understand how it should work and will only work this way, some companies have a tool to convert the Windows install to work even if you installed in ACHI or IDE, can't remember which company it was but saw it on youtube regarding SRT.

Found it was GIGABYTE

This one talks about their software to convert from an old install of windows to use SRT.

Thanks for all that, looks like I may just do a reinstall at some point in the near future. I know it's the long way round but maybe the best course of action to take, just wished I knew all this before I installed my current install of the OS....Oh well....thanks guys:-)
