Got a samsung k5500 32inch tv 2 days ago. Have not had much time with it.
Is it possible for these tv.s to access films shared on network drives?

ok so iv come across some apps called serviio and Plex.
not much mentioned on cpu requirements. but do these apps transcode the videos or stream them direct?
I prefer not to transcode, will loose quality and usually needs more cpu grunt.

Plex should work fine, assuming your TV has the app for it (my Samsung one does). It provides a really nice interface and shouldn't need to transcode.

You don't actually need the PLEX app on your TV, as long as its setup on your PC it acts as a bog standard DLNA server which any media server friendly device can access.

assuming your using windows on your micro server you don't even need plex fire up windows media player scan the content , and then browse the folders using smart share in my case or whatever app Samsung have

i have plex too the cpu use is minimal when using on my micro server only time i have issues is when trying to decode the new h.265 format my tv is old can't handle those files yours being new possibly will decode those too

I just use ps3 media server. The TV sees the server as part of my home network when it's on. No need for Ps3. It runs of my main pc and doesn't use much resources.
