I believe the new ones come with voice function so she can just say what she's after.

You say this but funnily enough I just had the thought of getting her a cam instead. She currently has Google home (though never once used) so I could get an cam with audio and just literally say "hey Google play Netflix show on the TV" down the camera.

Dude you making it worse! lol you not doing yourself any favours apart from me laughing. If it works it works! Is there not kit you could trial it with her or something see how she gets on with it?

Unfortunately already been done. The results were not good.
