My GF car's windscreen was been smashed today/last night. She only had the car for about a month and some people decided their life is too bored so went around smashing ppls cars windscreen. She left her car at her sister's place and stayed for a night. Next day her bro inlaw noticed something wrong with the windscreen. As he went closer to look at it, he was shocked to find the windscreen was gone and glasses fragments all over the inside of the car.

Nothing was stolen, not even the pda holder i bought her and I put in on for her car last night. When she called up the insurance agent, they have been receiving lots of complaints about smashed windscreen for the past few days.

Does anyone knows roughly how much it would costs to replace the windscreen of vauxhall vectra 2004Reg? She's getting the insurance to pay for it but worried if it will affect her car insurance premium

Usually £50quid excess for Windscreens!... if you bought one and had it fitted yourself by autoglass or whoever it'd be about £250-500 depending on tint etc!...

£50 excess normally assuming she's fully comp. Doesn't normally affect the insurance renewals.

her excess is £60 with norwich union. Hmm if it doesn't affect the insurance permium then it'll be a relief for her.

was just told by a colleage nowadays ppl break your windscreen to steal your car tax disc. can't believe what ppl will do nowadays.

I actually hear far less of nowadays, number plate stealing is fairly common around here though.

I payed about £80-£90 for a brand new windscreen without any insurance or something :|

That was for a 306 though

I got my old Primera's screen for £130 fitted by an independant, Autoglass wanted almost £300. You do now have to declare windscreen claims but I am not sure if it increases your premium by much.

Hi, claiming for a windscreen repair does not effect your premium one bit and the excess if fully comp is usually around £50 or £60 as mentioned above. Was handy when my heated screen in my old Orion Ghia cracked thanks to a stone.

Elephant charge a £70 excess for a replacement windscreen.

I was wondering if I'd be able to get a replacement windscreen through my insurance if it was mentioned in my MOT, or does it only cover a smashed/cracked windscreen?

If I could get it replaced under insurance, that'd be sweet because I wouldn't have to clean it! :p
