Smiling at strangers?

Eye contact is scary. I prefer to look at my feet. Safer. If they can't see my eyes, they can't look into my soul...

My shrink told me to think of everybody else as Robots so that there stupidity/Ignorance/Greed/selfishness/duplicity & hypocrisy doesn't make me want to kill them any more.
So no I don't smile at Robots. :p

Thread title is misleading. Op only speaks of females in their experience yet suggests non gender specific!

Any people kind enough to let me cross the road at junctions, people that hold doors open for me and girls who glance more than once on the train (anything else is creepy, stop trying to undress me with your eyes lol!).

I'm a friendly person so always tend to give people a smile or even say "morning" if the situation permits it. :)

Too many scowling grumpy people in the world. Nothing wrong with putting a bit of positivity out there.

Its simple really if your in London you dont smile at people, if your outside of London then you smile at people.

When I go down to London I always make sure to talk to people on the tube and laugh as they recoil in utter fear that someone is talking on the tube lol

In general I don't, if it's somebody who I pass every day then I'll smile and say hello as I'm walking past. There's this one miserable **** who I see every day waiting for the bus just as I'm getting out of my car after work, I've walked past and said hello several times but he just looks right through me.

Probably thinks you're a mentalist.

Depends on how you look and smile at the person.....
