Hi.

Im the (proud?) new owner of a smoothie maker, and was just wondering what kinds of stuff other overclockers put in theirs.

I know theres loads of websites full of recipies etc....but i was wondering what you lot consider to be your favourites and which things work best. Or more to the point - what concoctions have you attempted that sounded nice yet tasted vile.

Boozy recipies especially welcome btw.....

Use milk not water

Strawberries and bananas is nice, with milk and a bit of crushed ice.

3/4 glass of milk, a banana, 2 tea spoons of sugar and a small scoop of vanilla ice cream (non soft scoop, has to use real cream.) Delicious.

2 bananas, 1/2 a large pot of low fat natural yoghurt, 1 or 2 tea spoons of honey, dash of milk (all chilled) - stick in the blender for a few seconds, yum yum :)

The ice giving you the same effect as water. Horrible.

Put it in the fridge if you want it cold.

/me looks at starbucks frapachino's, which are v. popular. And cafe nero's frappe's... both of which have 1 of the main ingredient as, you guessed it, ICE :P

And more E numbers, artifical flavourings, and probably thickeners than you can shake a very very large stick at.

In banana smoothies, peanut butter adds a really nice taste. Don't knock it until you've tried it - I got that tip from Jamie Oliver on a TV program once. Mmmm mmm mmm. :D

use a very cold orange or apple juice, some fresh bananas and some frozen fruits (you can get frozen fruits from a supermarket),
in my experience using frozen fruits and cold juice will give you a thick smooothie (just like a milk shake from a fast food store),
and remember thick tastes better,
try to make runny one with fresh fruits and worm juice and it just tastes awful,

i used to work for a company that sells fresh smoothies and know what im saying :p

enjoy,

Throw the machine away and buy Innocent smoothies, they rock way more than any other smoothie on the market!

They are very very tasty, but they are also very very expensive!

OP could probably buy enough ingredients for a whole weeks worth of smoothie fun for the same price as a large bottle of Innocent!

Hmm, I love mango's but i havent found a good smoothie yet! (that isnt shop bought)

The best Ive found though is to use apples with mangos, or pineapple goes quite well too, just with yogurt, milk and banana..

To get it really cold and prevent smoothies from going watery, use frozen fruit while its frozen, or freeze the banana or the juice you are using.

My favourite is banana, milk, yogurt and lotsa of frozen summer berries!! Add the milk last so you can choose your consistancy!!

Hope that helps,
Lou :D

I stack the ice high in mine - normally fills about half the cup before blending commences.

If you're going to do something like strawberry and banana I reckon it's better to only use half the nana else it overpowers the berries.

Word.
