SMS messages as MMS

Called Tesco mobile customer care and have been credited £15. (8 messages went to email addresses) I think all the others to mobiles then had to be sent as MMS instead of MMS.

Trying to sort something like this with other companies would have been nigh on impossible

Especially as it's nothing to do with them, you got a very good result.

The reason I have stuck with Tesco for so long. You can always get straight through to someone who speaks English and sorts you out.

I have been with Orange, Vodafone and o2. All terrible customer service

Ive been with tesco for a little over a month now, cant fault their value but their knowledge sucks, fortunately im on 30 day rolling, definately thinking of swapping over to virgin, o2 reception for 2g and 3g in comparison to orange (that i used to be with) is shocking

The iPhone doesn't have a limit on how many messages you can send; no matter how long your text is, it'll be sent as multiple SMS messages. Also, many multiple recipients also doesn't cause a message to change to an MMS. The only place where I've come across a software coded limit on the number of SMS messages you can send is on Samsung Android phones which automatically turns a text that is more than 3 messages long into an MMS. The iPhone definitely doesn't do this.

6 of the messages went to emails though - I think if for example I sent an SMS to a mobile number and an email address, the one to email would have to go as MMS, forcing the other to send as MMS too

That's probably the case. Messages to email addresses will definitely go as an MMS.

If you send an SMS to an email address, it is converted to MMS. As mrochester says, you need to send an email not an SMS if you want it to go as email.

This is how SMS (MMS) to emails have always worked since MMS has been invented. It is not a handset issue.
