smtp issues

Hi

i'm having a few issues sending email via smtp.ntlworld.com

i'm getting intremitent problems saying that i need to check my smtp settings
it doesn't appear to be related to files sizes or email addresses i'm sending to. i'm sending the email from my own address i.e.([email protected]) don't have a Virgin / blueyonder / ntlword address although i am a virgin customer.
