It depends if your Hi-Fi unit has a coaxial digital input (or SPDIF input). Look around the back or in the manual. A clear photo of it's rear connections would help us.
If your Hi-Fi has coaxial input then theres no reason you shouldn't use it. Just buy a coaxial cable. Coaxial is digital btw, it's just sent electronically rather than optically (many believe it is better).
