Soooo

Decided i wanted the BT YouView option enabled on my account.
I already have a Humax Youview BOX thats BT enabled, SO i though i would have a look online to see what i can get.

I find a Page on bt.com: http://www.productsandservices.bt.c...yTopic.do?topicId=34742&s_cid=con_FURL_player

Tells me that if i have a box all i have to do is call to enable BT player, Bargin i thought!

So i call them up, and ask for this to be enabled.. I get told that they will speak to a manager and hopefully sort this for me.

Next thing i know i am being told that the website is incorrect, and the only way to get the BT Player is to buy a New Box through them and pay £7 a month plus a £35 activation charge...

Spoke to the wife because we could sell on the old box and use the new blah blah... Decided to go ahead, told the lady on the phone to proceed and send us the new box and add the £7 a month to our bill.

Then a thought popped into my head, and i asked the question (At the end after everything was ordered and when she asked if there was anything else she can do for me)... I asked "This BT youview package, will it tie me into a new contract for my Phone line and Internet"
She replied with Yes, you have now entered a new 12 month contract with us.

SERIOUSLY?? WTF??
There was NO mention of this when she was telling me about the Youview, NOTHING AT ALL. I demanded to speak to her manager and when he came onto the phone i asked for the order to be scrapped as i DID NOT want to be tied into a contract with them again.

I found this in their legal info online:
YouView To get YouView from BT you'll need to sign up to a 12-month TV contract, and if you've got less than 12 months left on broadband contract, you'll need to re-contract for another 12 months / 18 months for Infinity. If you're currently on a broadband promotion, you'll pay the same until it ends. After that you'll be charged our standard prices. You'll need a fast-enough line and a BT Home Hub (included if you haven't already been given one, £6.95 delivery). Availability and quality of content depends on local transmitter, suitable rooftop aerial and availability of digital channels (www.youview.com). You'll need to pay by Direct Debit and we'll charge you for On Demand content. Subject to availability. Terms apply.

Bloody cheeky if you ask me
