Hardware wise the SNES was in a different league.

Game wise I think the list of Classics is larger on the SNES... how many of the mega drive games got remade over the years?

Road Rash 3, when you used to bop people with the crow bar in mid-air, and they would just 'slide' down the screen with the same twisted posture.... good times

Mega Drive for me, I enjoyed it much more than when I played my cousin's SNES.

As for mascots, I loved Sonic the Hedgehog but never could get into Mario

Megadrive all the way for me simply because i preferred sonic over Mario but the SNES was awesome too.

Loved other games like:
Gunstar heroes
Vectorman
Boogerman
Gooftroop
King arthers world
Donkey kong
Star fox
Street racer
Toy story
Jurassic park ( scared the crap outta me in the 3d buildings lol)
Cybernator
Killer Instinct
Sparkster
Alien 3
There's many more!!

The 16bit generation is by far my favorite of all time.

I can remember getting an import snes (jap) from a computer show.

We had been drooling over screenshots of the games in C+VG magazine.

My Mum bought me and my brother a jap snes console with Final Fight, Fzero and super mario world, all i know is it was expensive!

Best days of gaming ever.

Our dad wasn't happy though, the only TV that had scart was in the front room lol.

We played that thing to death.

Megadrive all day i grew up playing this loved it and the streets of rage series was awesome and great sound track especially on streets of rage 1 The other that's great is sonic and knuckles with sonic 3 attached beast of game.

Got my megadrive first so I'll always have fonder memories of this. Like taking it in turns to play Sonic 1 with my brother.

+1 to sega here

I remember throttling my little brother because he stood in front of the screen while I was on the final Bowser boss fight in Super Mario World. Git!

Also, SF2T tournaments around each other's houses were amazing fun.

I still play Super Mario Kart to this day - battle mode with mates gets really agressive. Can't beat the original tbh. :D

Megadrive/Sega 4EVAAA! Those Sonic/Golden Axe/Streets of Rage/Micro Machines V2 times.....and those Sega-blue skies...now replaced by the "bro" Era of COD and Gears of War.....I have to stop, I think I have....something in my eyes.....[breaks down in tears].

Megadrive for me.

I know now later on in life that the snes had slightly better graphics but there were far more better games on the megadrive.
Ok some snes versions of games were better EG Sunset riders, TMNT, Zombies. But still the Megadrive won it for me.

I still remember when I first got my megadrive, my dad came home from work with a big box, when I opened it I could not contain myself it was a Megadrive 2 with mega games 2 and sonic 2 :) that feeling of excitement I got that day I will never forget I wish I could get that feeling again with todays consoles.

I had a Megadrive as a kid, however I always looked forward to play the Snes at a mates house more I just always felt it made my Megadrive look a bit more basic, I remember playing Final Fight and Turtles in a local arcade all the time, and when suddenly my friend was playing Final Fight and Turtles in Time at home I was pretty damn jealous.

I got Streets of Rage 2 and Hyperstone Heist maybe a year later but it was too late by then my mind was made up that the Snes was better, I remember swapping consoles for a week and playing Link to the Past, Mario World and Street Fighter 2 to death and not wanting to swap back.

I've been playing SoR2 on my phone on the trai home lately... have got some funny looks. Haha!

Nintendo had better franchises IMO. Shame they're too stupid to capitalise on them now. They could make a fortune by releasing SNES Virtual Console with a FULL catologue of games for 3DS/Wii-U and other platforms (even PC?).

I got an import US SNES back in the day, saved my pocket money and did odd jobs for ages to buy one along with a Sony Trinitron portable CRT! I still miss the lovely, crisp 60Hz pictures via SCART on CRT. Emulators and LCD just can't match it.
