Sniper Elite V4 Benchmarks

How do you access the benchmark software? Or its not built into the final release and was only for reviewers/testers version only etc.

There is no benchmark included with this years game unfortunately. The first level seems good for benching though.

Wow it seemed Async Compute on Maxwell V2 cards are finally worked properly for the first time on Sniper Elite V4.

Very interesting results here. It seems AMD GCN gains a lot more performance from going with DX12 + Async than NVIDIA's Maxwell or Pascal GPUs.

Maybe they have, maybe they haven't, personally, I highly doubt Maxwell Async has been enabled by comparing the DX12 performance drop off from Pascal, either way it's nice to see some DX12 gains instead of regression we've seen in a lot of Nv DX12 titles

While users of NVIDIA Maxwell and Pascal cards will see up to 5% performance gained, AMD owners should definitely use the DX12 path, as it brings with it performance improvements between 17% and 27%. Now, you might think that this means NVIDIA performance is a disaster, but that's not exactly correct. Rather, it seems NVIDIA's cards work equally well in both DX11 and DX12 at their expected performance level relative to the competition from AMD, and AMD cards need to run in DX12 to reach those levels.

As almost every title out there runs DX11, that FX competing with Pascal is embarrassing for AMD in regards their FX could have been way ahead of it's time if DX11 was as good as NV's or their own DX12 implementation.

I had a question about the AMD GU drivers having not used a AMD card since 2012.

One thing I 'need' is an adaptive vsynch solution driver side as I do not have a Gysync/FreeSynch monitor. Now in the Nvidia drivers I can turn on adaptive vsynch which will only turn on vysnch when my fps hits 60 but other wise turn it off.

In the AMD GPU drivers I can see a ' Frame Rate Target control. If I set this to 60 or even 59 will this archive the same thing?

This is something that's kind of important for me as a consideration whether or not I get a Vega GPU when they launch or a new Nvidia card.

We don't have a feature similar to adaptive sync currently, Frame Rate Target Control will just lock the FPS to a set number.

I would invest in a FreeSync panel as soon as you can afford it, then you'll never need that feature again. It's one of the best upgrades you can give your system.

What do you mean by "lock the fps to a set number"? I understand it to mean my fps wont go above say 60 if that was the target, but frames under this value would still be variable?

Because that in essence would achieve the same thing as Nvidia's Adaptive Vsynch in the drivers.

FRTC is just an FPS cap, it does not turn Vsync on an off dynamically based on frame rate.
