Snoop Doggy Dogg - doggystyle

I think R+G is an awesome album and was one of me faves from 2005. Hes just moving with the times really, you can't always be oldskool.

Listening to some R&G now actually. "I Love To Give You Light" and "Signs" are two of my favourites from that album.

Bought this today as it's shamefully been out of my CD collection for about five years.

Yeap that's some real stuff you got...well done. :)

My neighbour just poked his head over the fence:

"Were you listening to Snoop the other night?"

"...Yup."

"Man, that reminded me of '93...Made me want to skin up."

Doggystyle is one of raps all time finest LP's, he has had a few good tracks since then but nothing as cohesive in album form.

However to add to the debate, the finest rapper at the moment is MF Doom, he has turned out a sterling amount of amazing albums since his comeback under various Pseudonyms, MF Doom, Vickor Vaughn, King Geedorah to mention but a few. The new Dangerdoom album is stunning, and one of the few recent releases that ill still listen to (this being my 20th year of hip hop).

The new Ghostface album Fishscale is superb too, well worth checking out.

Back in the day i listened to the Dogfather but i really do not class Snoop as a great.

Doggystyle was great though, there was such hype before it came out after Snoop's debut on the Chronic, definetly didnt fail to live up to the hype.

a lot of it was obviously down to Dre though, theres not much he dosent produce that isnt amazing, just look how Eminems quality of albums has trailed off since he had less involvement in each album.

Yep, in all fairness Dre is a genious. I loved it when he got with Game to re-do the NWA scene in there home place (Compton)

Doggystyle is one of the greats! The rest of his stuff just doesn't compare.

It always reminds of hanging out with my friends and generally being dumbass kids. Man, the lenghs we used to go to back then to get even a sniff of some 'tang.

If we're being pedantic, then Snoop falls under the Gangsta Rap heading, not Hip Hop.

Technically hip hop is not a category. Hip hop is a collective of 4 things, emceeing, deejaying, breakdancing and grafitti.

All rap can be classed as hip hop imo.
