Seen this being used by various HMOs and single landlord owned flat blocks etc recently. Especially where they may be short term tenancy contracts or tenants have frequently left utilities unpaid.

Rented property, Open Reach installed. So, just required to purchase a contract with eg BT and then plu that into the Open Reach connection. So, led to belive that from this point on everything I do can be viewed via a landlord if they do wish. So every minute I'm online, they can view, what sites browse including financial ones, holidays, youtube programmes,Netflix, basically if you are renting your online privacy is gone. Correct? This does not seem legal, invasion of privacy, I'm paying for own contract either eg BT. Using a VPN is of no use. Only option is using own contract, different one, fir mobile phone if want to carry out likes of online banking etc thoughts welcome. Really surprised though lack of privacy.

I don’t think You understand how it all works, so don’t presume because everything you’ve said is wrong.

Keep on looking at what you are doing, your landlord won’t know…and why won’t an VPN be an option?

ISPs have been selling your IP connections for years for extra income.
They know when, which IP address and what form of connection (streamed etc).

They can pretty much know your browsing history.. then there’s the browser owners which all seem to chec the search and the IP address.

So if the OP has been watching dirty steamy videos (steam train restorations you dirty mongrels) then there’s quite a large footprint out there.

Virtually ALL traffic now is SSL based with certificates and focus on end to end encryption.
