snow at last

Snowing quite hard in Leatherhead atm. Accident on the A24 at Dorking this morning which fortunately didn't delay me too long, but my colleague just called to say he's stuck in a 4 car pile-up.

Snow in MK too, i had a cheaky little handbreak slide round my estate this morning :D

Yep, woke up to snow in MK this morning and brushed the car off, drove down the drive, and that was about it for me. Roads were clear all the way to work as I drove to Northampton.... No problems, just wishing for it to now clear up as quick as it fell..!!:D

Was very surprised to find it snowed this early in the year. Doesn't it normally snow in February/March?

It can snow whenever it's cold enough and the conditions are right.
Where were you back at the end of last year when it snowed? That was when it was a bit rarer.

Because heavy snow is so sporadic here, as a nation we are generally not particularly well equipped to deal with it when it happens overnight.

TBH they should just introduce a law stating winter tyres should be fitted in winter, that's pretty much why the rest of europe don't have any problems, that and the fact they don't look out the window, see snow then loose all their driving skill...

snowing here, good job i had nothing planned. although the other half is driving to ocuk today down the A roads!

Suh-weeeeeeeet. Just enough snow here for a decent sledging session. Think I'll declare today an extended holiday, the joy of freelance. Now to call up my friend (freelance camera man) and persuade him to do the same and hit the slopes.

Never too old to go sledging. :D

I couldn't imagine driving any distance on an un-gritted road personally, even at a few mph you slide a bit at corners. Going down a steep bank in the countryside would probably write the car off.

Do winter tyres make any difference to grip in that situation? I thought they just helped increase grip in extreme cold, not in snow / ice?

I can only assume partly so, if not then it's hugely down to driving skill as there are very few problems in places where it snows regularly, and roads aren't completely free of snow all the time.

Snow here for the last day or two too, in fact it's still snowing now. Business carries on as usual though, all roads are ploughed and gritted and cars have their compulsory winter tyres so no dramas.

How bad must your life be that a form of precipitation requires that you immediately post on the internet a new thread saying nothing more than that there is weather outside?
