This update addresses intermittent hard drive-related stalls reported by a small number of customers.

Anyone else seen this appear in Software Update? I checked on Macrumors and even they didn't have anything, which is a first. Funnily enough my MacBook has been doing this but I blamed it on Firefox. :o

I've been getting odd ~20s system stalls on 10.5 recently :/

Edit: It's in system update for 10.5 too, so it's not just for Snow Leopard.

I think it's the issue where some hard drives made my a particular manufacturer that shipped with the Macs had their own accelerometer built into the drive, which was conflicting with the accelerometer built into the computer. That caused the system to think it was being dropped occasionally, and thus parked the heads of the drive, causing the system to stop responding.

It was supposed to address a pausing/stuttering issue that I wrote about here.

A lot of the reports seem to suggest it's worked too.. Took them long enough though

The update was offered to my MBP so I applied it, not that I noticed this issue anyway.

I've applied it too... Not sure i've noticed anything either

On the other hand it's from Apple so it must do very cool & funky stuff and as I'm off out to the Covent Garden tonite it will obviously also make me more attractive to women.

Wins all round.

Seen it, downloaded it, installed it. Came down the pipe from "Software Update"
Haven't noticed any difference tbh.

Running a late 'o8 2.4 MacBook Pro here.

It appeared recently for my uMacbook too. I just thought it was related to older MBP hard drives. I hadn't had any problems with my machine before anyway.
