Dave Ryding wins Britains first ever alpine skiing World Cup gold medal.

Immense!

Just came on here to post the same. Incredible achievement from Dave Ryding.

Won't get the plaudits it deserves as not entirely mainstream but imo that is up there with top british sporting achievements considering the GB setup and the advantage the competition take into the world cup events in development, livings with access to mountains from a young age etc.

reading about the future resorts snow prospects, olympics all on artificial snow is disappointing, artificial is not the same
Well I know they want to be inclusive by taking it around the world, but having the olympics to countries that have weak or no snowfall, or not even any proper mountainous terrain, is hardly a great thing for viewers and especially for the athletes. They should host it in places that have mountain ranges with strong consistent snowfall at this time of the year... France, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, USA, Canada etc. Beijing has no business hosting these damn events.

UK participant just on r4 - their artificial snow more compact and less forgiving for falling/landings 'it's better than rocks'
