Just woken up to a lovely 6 inches~ of snow here in Hertfordshire.

Just about to grab some brekky then I'm off round to the common for my first attempt at snow photography.

Any quick tips for an amateur? (and I can't stress that amateur part enough...)
Will be taking out my 20D, Sigma 18-125mm f/3.5-5.6 and RS tripod. Might take the 55-250 and Raynox too... ooo choices.

Hope others have snow (and little work) so that they may enjoy the photo opp.

If you're shooting a very white scene, just remember to manually meter of a grey card or the sky to get the correct exposure else you ll end up with grey snow

Well seeing as I knew I wouldn't be able to get to work this morning I decided to go for a (freezing cold!) walk around the local woods and snap some pictures as well :D

Here are a few I have just gone through rather than actually do work from home:

One of mine from this morning.

First time posting a photo in these parts, so go easy on me. :p

Not sure how the colours will appear to every one else. Haven't got my main monitor calibrated properly, but on my 2nd monitor the sky looked a nice blue (not a washed out blue like on my main).

Haven't processed it, just resized the raw then saved to web.

Any tips for processing it? :)

For anyone interested there are some really good ice stalactites on the bridges over the Leeds inner city ring road leading to the university. Noticed them as I was walking home tonight and thought they would make a good picture, they are quite large and illuminated by the lighting.

and a couple of hours later got a flickr mail from manchester evening news saying they wanted to use my snow pics on their website :)

Just a couple of mine from yesterday. I'm new to digital photography so be nice, althought C&C would be welcome. And will use the tip above about over exposing. I've got a lot of grey snow pics :(
