If you would kindly point me towards a PCI-E 1.2 chipset I would gladly take my comment back.

dunno if chipset is the right description, isn't it more of a standard, anyways

http://www.pcisig.com/specifications/pciexpress/

I really don't want to get into a debate, just got a bit miffed at all the unhelpful comments, if we left all the answers to the "actual" experts, then op might be waiting a long time, and I'm sure I am not alone in learning most PC relating things from the net like anyone else

pci-e 1.2 seems to refer to a mini card, so again apologies for taking the statement from elsewhere as factual

yes backward compatible with a 1.2 slot, not with anything lower is my understanding

also can you quantify "did this to death" ?, do you mean you actually tried an 8800gt in a Shuttle SN25P, because that would be a big help to the op, anything less is speculative
As others have said, the gt is pci-e 2, which is fully backwards compatible with pci-e 1.1 and 1.0. There were many threads about this, and the gt has since proven to work on 1.1 slots. Look at this page for further info about specs and compatiblity - there is no 1.2.

I have no idea if the gt works with the SN25P, but if it doesn't then it's not for the reason you stated. Sorry I can't be of any specific help about the shuttle. You didn't say if the other forum posts about incompatibility were speculation before the release, or actual attempts afterwards so I was just correcting a mis-conception that was prevelant.

fair enough, admittedly a misleading statement by myself, there does seem to be issues with the 8800gt and the sn25p specifically, based upon actual experiences with sn25p owners

your reply is infinately more palatable tho than a previous fellow poster, and it leaves me educated and you being able to express yourself in an adult manner

instead of me being peeved and said poster coming across as a "smart ass" ;)

can you specifically help the op ?, or are you just here to tell every one how much more you know than me on one subject

yes i can help and there is plenty of proof out there that the 8800gt works on a pci-e 1.0a interface with no problem.

qhy your giving out false information for is something im trying to figure out.

here's a clue, it was poor wording by me and I have apologised, are you man enough, or do you communicate generally in that manner ?

mobo needs to be pci-e 1.2 for the 8800gt

you call that poor wording? sorry pal i don;t believe it. you have made a statement there, and no matter how you say the sentence your facts are still wrong. your post has caused more harm than good by scaring off people with that shuttle system, to stay away from the 8800gt. hopefully no one buys into the crap you have posted.

man get a life, and hang up the superman costume

think I'll change my name to

Stephen B the 5th Horseman of the GPU Apocalypse, scaring off potential buyers of 8800GT's

are all your posts this lame ? arguing on a forum what a rebel :D
