I've been looking at the specs, and the anticipated specs of the new generation cards. I recon I can only justify £300 spending till christmas which equates to 1 next gen 'GTX'.

I know everything is speculation till the benchmarks come out, was wondering what other people with 8800 series SLi are thinking about doing when the new cards come out. Buy 1 high end, or 2 mid-range. And compairing that to current performance with 8800 SLi. Is any upgrade justified yet...benchmarks pending

Take that £300 and change it to a £400-£450 and thats is prolly what the cost of the GTX 280 will be on release.

Too early to say and looking likely you aren't going to do any better than your SLI'd 8800 for £300.

i would take a single high-end card over 2 mid ranged SLI cards anyday. At least every game you play, you're garunteed to get the best performance possible from your card

Very true about the single vs SLI but if you already have an SLI setup and it's going to cost you a lot of money to swap for a single card solution which performs just the same, is it worth it? No IMO

While its too early to be sure... I don't think the new G200 series cards are going to be a huge increase in performance over 8800 SLI - aslong as the game supports SLI fairly well and most do.

Personally I decided to buy another 8800GT and SLI rather than spend money now on the next generation - under £200 spent on 2x 8800GT and if I find later on down the road they aren't cutting it any more - then the prices on the new cards will have probably dropped - driver support improved and so on.
