Do you know how much is being drawn by the small server? Its easy to throw numbers at you, but for example, I have turned an old desktop into a file server. Small in stature and doesn't do anything other than serve files, but on its own loads my APC1000 to 50% (Pentium D930, 6Gb Ram, 6 hard drives)

Weird my HTPC is about 11% and that's with router, switch, phone, monitor. 1500VA. Dual core AMD.
 
I've got an APC Smart Pro 750 which is 5 years old and had one battery replaced about a year ago.

I actually took the punt on a non-branded replacement and it works perfectly. Cost me about £60 including shipping when APC branded were more than double the price.
 
thanks for all the help here. managed to pick up 2x rack mount APC UPS's. They need all new batteries i think anyone recommend the best place to get them without breaking the bank.
