Hey i posted awhile ago complaining about getting blue screen error with BCC CODE 124. and someone has told me to get a driver cleaner and wipe my current graphics card drivers and install from fresh. does anyone know a decent free programme to do this?

cheers in advance, skullmunky :D

what system do you have? (chipset processor memory and overclock if it is?)

What are you doing when it blue screens.

Is the first code on the blue screen 0x00000124? If not what is it? it should read 0x00000???

here`s a link to phyxion Driver sweeper (its Free)
http://phyxion.net/Downloads/

download it.
also Download your new Latest GPU driver.
uninstall your present driver.
re-boot.
run driver sweeper, and tick the box that applies to your GPU make (ie AMD/Nvidia)
click the Analyse button at the bottom.

it will then re-boot your PC with your driver uninstalled.
then install your new driver and see if your problem is solved.

Cheers for the reply Soundesciple, ive done everything you have said, but its about my bed time, so i shall give it a couple fo hours run through tomorrow and hopefully everything is fine, fingers crossed. TIGHTLY! :D

Could be hardware related. Perhaps run Memtest for a few hours to see if your RAM is ok first. Is your system overclocked? If so try reverting to stock settings.

There is no overclock on this pc that im aware of, but i have already set it to default settings. still no luck. ill try the memtest next. OC will be getting a phone call in the morning. on the dot.

have you updated the sound drivers and is the game updated also ?
EDIT: could be a problem from any windows updates,i found something and the guy got it fixed heres what he said:

I went through each update and installed 1 by 1. found 2 errors with the updates for bd processors once i deleted them and installed them in the correct order i stopped getting blue screens.so as of now my system has been stable for about 6 days prime95, furmark, and memtest shows no errors. and i have not recieved any further bsods.

well tbh i never update windows(unless something i need) always gives more problems than it fixes, that guy did a fresh install of win 7 and did his driver updates all was working fine in games until he updated windows then got the same BSOD he was getting b4 (same as yours).
so bang on a fresh install of windows do all the drivers and skip any windows updates you dont need (turn off auto update) see how that goes

How come you were permabanned then created a new id?

Do you have a ssd? I was getting a 124 bsod and tried several things such as setting everything back to stock, increasing voltages. In the end i downloaded bluescreen view to see what was actually causing the problem. It always came up with kernel error. A week later and my Vertex 2 ssd died completely. New ssd and a clean install with all updates and no problems. I reckon that the ssd was the culprit even though smart and other programs said it was ok.

Keep windows up to date. It mainly gets patched for security holes and if you don't keep it updated you will be leaving yourself wide open. I have never had any problems arising from updates to Windows 7.

i had an account awhile ago and forgot the password. so just created another not knowing it was against forum rules. so an admin emailed me and asked which one i would like to keep. Ill just do the fresh install and see how i get on from there. ive only had the pc about 4 months from overclockers. surely the hardware cant be beat already.
