He's got a point... Humans are the most destructive species. Apparently we are intelligent and compassionate yet we seem to destroy everything we are near. Why are we more important than other large mammals?
Quite, still doesn't stop me wanting to give all my worldly goods to help them though. It is the intentional guilt trip they try to put you on that I find distasteful.
Besides the fact that TV advertising is expensive and the money would be better served helping those kids the actors are portraying rather than paying the actors portraying them.
I suspect that the funds raised through advertising and campaigns on television are greater than their costs and will therefore have more money to spend.
I'd rather give my money to save animals tbh. There is way too many humans, I'd rather donate my money to stop the extinction of things like the amur leopard.
Don't want to keep people alive who have hunted anything to near extinction. Humans have to be one of the most horrible things to walk this earth, we take everything we want without consequence.
I do the same, direct debit for two animal charities, never do anything for human ones. Had a chugger try for 10 minutes to convince me to save the children and couldn't get the fact I'd rather give my money to animals.
And unfortunately the thing we (the west) have no control over is the thing that causes the biggest problem. Africa needs to help itself before the rest of the world can really make a difference IMO.
You do release that the corruption is mainly induced by Western, Russian and Chinese corporations with full sanction from the respective governments. So actually we have quite a bit of power over it. Not that it would make a blind bit of difference it's all so corrupt.
As for the OP - yer turn the adverts off they are annoying and that charities think it is acceptable to spend spend spend do get slightly increased revenue streams is quite amazing. Also I find it hard to see how they can be classed as non-profit making when you see the con of how much some of the top bods get paid. Anyone can make no profit if you pay your staff highly enough and employ ones you don't need.
Personally I'm of the belief that charity begins at home. As sad as it is that all those people are starving I've become rather desensitised to it all now and frankly don't care any more. I don't believe my money going there will really help anyone as those that need the money wont actually get it. Until the larger problems in Africa are resolved I don't think throwing money at it is going to help anything.
Like Castiel those NSPCC adverts get me. Also the cancer research/Macmillan ones strike a nerve but that's more down to my mum, nan and grandads all having it.
