So APB is utter rubbish then ..

were not at the point where a massive fps is feasible. Soon but not yet. So it plays like shoot em ups of old, laggy, spray and pray.... and thats always frustrating. one day we'll have a true fps with unlimited players... just not yet.

Didn't get in on any of the beta/headstart time, but from what I'd seen of this in previews and videos I can't say I'm surprised. A small play area, shallow combat and gameplay hamstrung by the limits of what's essentially Cops V Robbers was never going to translate into an MMO.

A pretty fair review.

I played the 5h 'demo' twice through and thought the car handling, whilst not as good as some games, was not as bad as he describes.

The 'PvP' is worse than he describes, though.
I invariably met a bigger group with bigger/better guns and you just can't compete.

I wouldn't play it without a sub.

With a sub... they're having a laugh!

I can't say the game changed much in a year, it was fun at first but when you've played for so long you notice the things that make it no fun to play. Initially good, but nothing to keep you.

I guess they decided to leave the current combat system as is and hope not too many people notice, or care. :(

Me too.

Sure, it needs some polish and bigger missions but the potential is definitely there.

Maybe they just didnt pay PC gamer enough?

I spose doing game design I see things differently to most others. Its a great concept so ill support the devs for a bit :) yes it needs work but so could every game. Remember its a young game

Like yourself, I can see what they are trying to achieve so will support them for a while.

As you say, it is a new concept so time will tell.

when i first heard of the gamei. I thought it was just a big city full for 10000000people and you can do what the hell you want. So i pre ordered it, then beta reviews etc game out and i was like WUT I DONT LIKE IT. then i played the beta and was like "mhmhmh its ok but im canceling pre order" and now here i am. :(

On paper it doesn't work, the reality? It doesn't work. I am not sure where the shock is coming from.

Why devs need to complicate a simple concept that would work I'll never know. Just make GTA a MMO. No instancing, just different zones/cities to expand the game world. Then throw in all the players.

The problem with the game is they want a sub for it (for the action districts). There is not enough polish or variety in the game to justify that at this stage. I've had fun and will play my 50 hrs out but won't be even considering topping up more hours until its been given far more content. If they had just gone with a Guild Wars model I think people would have been more forgiving and it would have sold much more. The potential is there but greed/desperation on the part of the devs will kill it, sadly.

You should all come play global agenda, it's a fps and a kind of mmo. I really like it. There is going to be some open world pve sections added in the next patch too which isn't that far off.

/thread hijacked!!

How about you make up your own mind rather than paying attention to a single review site?

There was a week long pre-release demo available, and god know how many months of beta with frequent play tests.

The single review site is about right though, I thought it was pretty much utter pap after beta'ing it for a while.

Shame though, a decent concept.
