So... Battlelog. Thoughts?

Have you even used the in game menus in BFBC2? Do you remember how long it takes to log in, to search for servers and then how long it takes to exit the game once you decide you don't want to play? Answer is: a HELL of a lot longer than it takes to do anything using Battlelog. It is *reducing* the time and steps it takes for you to get in to a game, not increasing them.

I'm sure half the people complaining about Battlelog either have amnesia or have never played a computer game before.

I agree. I think some people just hate change and look at everything through rose tinted glasses.

It's buggy at the moment, but it's a step forward imo.

It works fine from what I've used of it and I've not had any issues at all... having said that though after using a bit, I'd still rather just have an in game server browser but that's just personal preference.

Sitting in the BC2 'lobby' (front screen doing nothing).

CPU = 40% / RAM = 1.9GB / Process = 410,460K.

Sitting in the BF3 'lobby' (Battlelog)

CPU = 1% / RAM = 1.34GB / Process (Firefox) = 138,808k.

I'm amazed at how they've managed to build this site. It's pretty unbelievable. I can't imagine come game release you'll need to go to the website to launch a game.

So I think it's awesome.

Does battle log ru inside a browser (firefox, chome etc), or is it its own program, abit like steam?

If it runs in a web browserm and you need to keep it open whilst playung the game, wont that cause issues with 3d/2d clock speeds?

No. Those bugs with flash video were fixed ages ago afaik.

You will though.

You may not need to for the single player game I guess. I would hope that they keep things as they are for multiplayer though - drag the Luddites kicking and screaming into the "crazy future".

Seems unnecessary - I've already had to install origin to play the game, and now i don't actually use Origin, but a browser based launch tool?

At least when Gametap converted to browser based, they got rid of the client, not requiring both...

Can someone please post a physical reason why the old system is better.

And not it uses up 10mb less RAM.

I've already posted a few reasons in this thread.

It's faster to use and is more easily extensible. It doesn't require you to be in game to browse the servers - there's a reason why things like All Seeing Eye and GameSpy (before it got bought out) have been very popular with users.

The old system (BC2) is not better but this one isn't without flaws.

Also the Squad Management system simply sucks atm.

Battlelog should definitely run in the Origin browser though since you have to run it to launch the game in the first place.

Superb, about time we had an innovative hub that allows you easy access to servers and pre-group/chat facilities.

total win from me, no more laggy ingame browsers !!

Why can't battlelog be inside origin or origin inside battlelog?

I think that's the biggest flaw at the moment.

I don't like opening my browser every time I start the game since there are always a lot of tabs open, it takes a few seconds to let them load properly and a lot of memory when the browser runs in the background.

The alternative is to run it in another browser with only Battlelog open but then you have to log in manually each time you use it.
