How have i not noticed this earlier? i played doom with vulkan api and noticed i was getting like 100 fps but no screen tearing and i was thinking wtf is going on! so did some research and find out vulkan only runs on borderless window and the no screen tearing is due to that, so i run witcher 3 on borderles window mode and turn off vsync and again no tearing! so what's the point in gsync/freesync? and why havent i heard this before? Somethings too good to be true here!

It isn't a replacement for g/free sync - you will still get some input lag and at times trade input latency for stutter. It is a but like fast sync in how it works only not as advanced you will also find sometimes reduced performance due to lack of exclusive mode and/or the GPU not going to max 3D clocks. It is very useful if you need to alt-tab or use companion programs alongside the game.

also if what i remember is right you get worse performance because windows does not make all it's services low priority like it does when running a game full screen, another thing i've found with full screen borderless is that desktop notifications pop me from my game

That'd be annoying enough to make it a deal breaker for me, Can desktop notifications be turned off under such conditions?

not that i've actively searched for i was running the alien isolation benchmark earlier and was rudely interrupted by my epson printer telling me there was a software update available which inadvertently sent me to the desktop

you do also get some stutter and input latency too. more noticable on certain games, i'l always go full screen wherever possible

ok cool yeah i did some more research and found that windows has its own sychronisation that is still active when something is in borderless window and thats why i guess there is still some input lag? but still seems a heck of a lot smoother than using vsync as long as bordeless window isnt causing any other issues with the game.

That's a pity as it's the worse thing that could happen mid bend at the Hockenheimring :D
