I ran xubuntu on a laptop I got yesterday for a steal, managed to get chrome installed but the flash errors got too much and I ended up reverting to mint It wouldn't install through terminal or the ubuntu centre I had to use the deb on chrome's site despite it was saying it was available in the software centre when installing it installed none the less.
I did an upgrade from 13:10 and as the upgrade finished i got an error saying something about Kernal header failure. Rebooted and loaded to just a wallpaper and a cursor. Everything else dead.
Clean re-installed (separate /Home) no probs but upon re-installing Chromium the Missus Facebook games wouldn't work (Flash no longer supported) and that as you all know is the End of the Freakin World !
So.. Removed Chromium and installed Chrome - Problem solved.
Missus turned machine on this morning and.... Freeze.
Updates failed to fetch.
Changed to Main Server - Solved
Thunderbird failing to load and freezing whole system - Removed and Re-installed - Solved
And.... Here we are !
It does seem snappier but I can't see any other benefits !
Didnt have too many issues when I upgraded my laptop yesterday from 13.10 - 14.04 however it did remove my changes to the colours of the Software Center and VLC has stopped working
I installed probably hours after it launched (fresh install) and chromium wasnt there in the software centre.
It is now though and has installed and worked fine.
