I was browsing those petitions on 10 downing street when I realised the second largest petition.

Just signed it. How about you do so also if you feel you agree?

Get rid of the most unfair tax there is!
signed, why should some of my parents money go to the government after they have saved and paid all taxes etc

Get rid of it?
So I can pay more tax now so that some ingrate kids that i've kept for 18+ years can have whats left when im dead?

I intend to spend every fraking penny before i go.

tax pays for our health care, stop being so selfish!
I hope that wasn't a serious post. They should scrap free healthcare for self inflicted conditions too as far as I'm concerned. I'm fed up of paying for people who sit around on their fat arses and smoke, eat and drink like pigs to have their disgustingly unhealthy bodies fixed using my tax money.

lol, worried that your inheritance won't be as big as it could be? :p

It's hardly unfair is it. You as the recipient will have to pay a bit of tax on it, just like if you receive any other large cash or capital gain. It is very fair :)

Yeh have any of these petitions helped?

As these are downing street petitions and no just random interweb petitions I would hope they carry some weight and raise the awareness about how the public feel about a certain issue.

Fixed.

I whole-heartedly disagree with the inheritance tax, so I've signed.

However, if your parents are willing to gift their estate to you before their death, then you get around it anyway.

Why do people always think it is youngsters?

How old are people on average when both parents die? 12?
It's fine... dirtydog is just being a bit of a tool.

I don't think it should be scrapped altogether but they should either reduce the level of taxation or raise the threshold to something that doesn't mean that anyone with a house will pay it.
