So how poor is Apples delivery times at this time of year!

At that time nothing installed other than Mac OS X and iLife 11..that all came pre installed. It has got better experience so far, apart from iTunes. All my music is on a Synology server and adding the music onto iTunes takes soooo long it is just unbearable to run it off the mounted network drives (something my 4 year old PC and 3 year old Dell laptop managed without any problems using wifi) via a wired network.

Have purchased a 500gb HDD to allow me to put my music on the laptop itself, not a major issue but still enough to niggle at me.

Well something tells me that something between your two machines isn't quite equal. I've managed to get >60MB/sec via wired and >15MB/sec using WiFi from my 2010MBP.

What kind of data rates are you getting when it's plugged in wired/wirelessly (look in network in activity monitor).

:)

WiFi link speed is 54 mbit/s
Wired 100 mbit/s

Are these the right figures you are after, well no matter now as the HDD is on it's way now so will give me a better experience.

Nah I meant when iTunes is importing your library what kinds of speeds are you getting!

Although your not using N wifi and only 100Mbit ethernet which is pretty slow!
