lmao so damn true. Oh well whats this on the other side of the island. Omg we are in hawaii.

Lol. They come to the otherside of the island, Jack stares at the camera and says:

"Yes, that's right, we really were too lazy to walk to the other side, now grab your coconut bras girls and come party!".

LOST is typically American, take a good idea and instead of executing it properly (4 seasons at the most) they try to flog it to death and get 7 seasons out of it (and a film at the end apparently  ). I agree that it probably will be cancelled, viewer ratings drop each season. Thats why Channel 4 got rid of it.

I thought they got outbid by Sky.

I read an article in the paper (Times I think) that said otherwise. Either way, its annoying that its on Sky, my poor freeview :p. I guess it will get re-run on SkyThree eventually but I will be well out of the loop by then. :p

It seems Ch4 didnt really want it that much, they had the opportunity to match Sky's bid but didn't. It seems like they wanted Desperate Housewives more :(

Channel 4 director of programmes Kevin Lygo today said Lost had become too expensive to keep and was becoming a ratings failure.

Expanding on the broadcaster's decision to concentrate its acquisition spending on Desperate Housewives and not Lost, which Channel 4 lost to Sky at a cost of nearly £1m an episode, Mr Lygo said: "We couldn't really afford both."

"We chose Desperate Housewives because I think it is a better show and it performs a lot more strongly for us. It is closer to a classic Channel 4 American programme. Lost's ratings have really begun to fall off."

Interestingly, Lost started on Sky One with better ratings than when 24 made the move.

The third series of Lost made a successful start on Sky One last night, attracting 1.4 million viewers.

The show's expensive transfer from Channel 4 immediately started to justify the Sky money spent on it, with the first instalment attracting what is believed to be the network's second best audience of the year to date.

...

Lost made a stronger start on Sky One than 24, the network's last big steal from a free-to-air rival.

The third series of 24 launched on Sky One in January 2004 with just under 1 million viewers, after transferring from BBC2.

In July this year, the fifth series of 24 concluded on Sky One with a little over 500,000 viewers.

Series one of Lost averaged 4.1 million viewers on Channel 4, series two 2.7 million.

Lost shouldn't be compared to 24. They're very different. Also (as above somewhere) don't watch lost for the "OMGWTFBBQ!" revelations - it's all about the character development, which is top notch. The exciting twists just keep you interested.

Tell us all whats going on then, apart from they are lost

well, i reckon they are in the future in some sort of destroyed world and that the island is the only thing that exists and that people are brought to the island in order to save the world or existance or whatever.

i only think this because as i was watching the 1st ep of season 3 there was a bookclub and everybody had a differnt copy of stephen king - and i think it may have been the dark tower series - i think lost is a bit like the dark tower series, where technology has moved on (all the retro equipment is very dark tower), especially as the others are 'not the enemy' and that they can access all sorts of info it would be difficult if not impossible to get.

i'm probably wrong as i haven't really watched the first 2 series, but the stephen king books and the retro technology just struck a nerve.

Yeah well said. I say this every time, but i think maybe the first few episodes of the first season which were fairly action-packed, kinda tricked some people into thinking Lost is an action series. Which it's clearly not. It's not like you watch series like the West Wing and expect a huge 'revelation' every episode -- it's just bloody good TV!
