So guys,

After looking at Evo's and Imprezas, i finally came across a cheap one which has had an enguine rebuild 2000 miles ago and is in immaculate condition (not a mark on it).

It cost me £3800 with 3 months warranty and 12 months MOT.

Spoke to a garage i found amongst the receipt and he said its immaculate but a tad over priced (to be expected with a dealer). He said for the money though you wouldn't find a better classic in that condition. He vouched he did the rebuild and was running extremely well and was shocked that the previous owner part exchanged it for a new STI.

Chuffed to bits with it and picking it up Thursday :)

My girlfriend hates it! And yes i could have got one cheaper private, but after being stung so many times i can't really trust buying a car like this privately. Especially it being an Import.

Enjoy! I will get some new pics when i get it and will let you know how the drive home was!

Thanks,

Shep.

Thought it would have the square numberplate recess at the back if it was a import. Maybe it changed with the newer Subaru's. Looks really nice mate, not a bad price for it in that condition.

How much is the insurance though?

It has to be an import

We only ever get the UK turbo in imprezas of this era.

*edit*

I take it this is a V3 STI ? if its on a P plate ?

I got my Blobeye STi from that garage! Good guys to deal with, you can always spend your life trying to get stuff slightly cheaper somewhere else but i'd rather pay a bit extra for the backup aswell.

Damn nice looking car aswell!

So you have a receipt for the rebuild?

Did they say what was wrong with the old engine?

They didn't know much about it and it put me off, but I took note of the garage number on the receipt and the guy there vouched for it. It was a regular customer of his and he's a Subaru specialist. I asked about why it had a rebuild and he said one day the previous owner started it and it just died on his driveway. He got it rebuilt and then swapped it for a new impreza several months later.

Thought it was a V5?

You can tell its a V3 because its got black dials, V4 STI onwards had white dials. V4 and V3 STI share the same fog covers.

You can tell its not a V5, as the fog covers are completely different :

V6 STI

Before i bought my Volvo i was looking at classic imprezas, and was warned that most classics will need a rebuild once they start getting on and up to around 100k miles. So i don't think its that out of the ordinary.

Sweet looking car shep and I've seen a few. ;)

Leave it relatively standard and it'll be a reliable motor.
