So I can park on a public highway with no MOT!??

I didn't realise this was even possible, there is a bit of a feud going on in our street regarding a car that's been dumped, but insured and taxed in order to cause an obstruction.

Essentially, it's got no MOT but because it's insured it's fine to be parked on a public highway  seems totally backwards to me that!?

If the car is obstructing the road then it's an offence. Can you not call the police about it?

That is going to depend on exactly what is being classed as an obstruction, to a lot of people they'd say someone just leaving their car on the road in a space that could be used by someone else is an obstruction but you won't see anyone towing a car for that as long as it's legal.

The points about insurance being invalid if there is no MOT/ the vehicle has to be roadworthy: surely that is moot if the vehicle isn't being driven at the time... If you get a flat tyre on the motorway and your car gets taken out by a HGV, the insurance co aren't going to turn round and say "we're rejecting your claim because the car had a flat tyre when it was written off and so was unroadworthy"
