so i got my 5870 replaced

My card only makes an audiable squeal when running ATI Tool or Furmark.

My 4870 was louder and my old 8800gtx squealed like there was no tomorrow.

It's not something that really annoys me with my computer being under the table, however if it was ontop of my desk next to me I could imagine it being irksome.

If RMAing a card for capacitor squeal, who pays the postage? Is it counted as a fault and therefore retailer pays?

I don't think its worth it, unless its soooo loud that next door knocks on the wall ;p

i got my 5870 replaced and it hardly sounds much different from the one i had first, so i can only conclude that every 5870 has a whine to it. Must be the fan.

much to my annoyance.. though this one seems quieter with it so far.

i've noticed a couple of other people complaining about it as well but i guess it doesn't bother everyone else so much?

Are you sure they didn't just return the same card back to you?
