so i just bought a sigma 10-20mm lens

I've got one as well and it stays on my camera pretty much as a walk around. It's hard to go wrong with it.

I'd consider getting some Cokin P filters for it though, the graduated filter can be a godsend because there are times when you're going to be shooting into the sun or grabbing a lot of sky.

Do you find the Cokin filters ok Steve ? lots of people complain about colour cast.

I've got some hi-techs that seems better.

Do the P size vignette on the UWA lens? My hi-techs are P size, was wondering if you need 100mm filters @ 10mm

i purchased some cokin filters a long time ago and used them for 4-5 months before deciding the colour cast was too much. The ND filters were a dirty brown colour.

I actually wouldn't mind if an ND filter had a warmish tone because I like that in my photogrpahy, and it is also easy to fix true orange through the WB. But dirty muddy brown added to the skies was too hard for me to fix back then.

Huh - I don't think that I've ever noticed but then I do all my processing in Lightroom and it usually involves some temperature and tone/tint correction. Going back through my photos I don't really notice a muddy tone but then I on;y ever use the graduated P120 filter. It was a cheap option over some of the other ones out there and if it's a case of a blown out sky vs a slight brown tinge, I'd rather have the brown :D Honestly though I don't really see a brown in the image.

As for vignetting, you can get a little bit of a corner shadow when the lens is at its widest but this corrects when you use the lens profile correction in Lightroom.

Hmm never heard of a brown colour cast, I've always seen people comment about purple cast with the cokins.

Interesting you can get away with P filters, I will have to give it a try on mine.

I used to use one on my 400D approx 4 years ago and I felt it was soft, Perhaps I was doing something wrong though. Also RAWs will need sharpening from the camera don't forget.
