Proccessor to come- Duel AMD 64 4400.

sorry for the long post. but since they just got the new 1900XT is it worth cancelling the pre-order and changing for the 1900XT instead of keeping the BFG 7800 512.... im stuck what to do. plus. im not sure if my motherboard will be right if i do.

whats your thoughts. any advice please most welcome.

cheers in advanced. ;)

Well the new drivers mean that even the X1800XT is on par or faster than the 7800 512mb. That would save you £150+.

No brainer really. Either change your order to the X1800 or go for the X1900.

but will my motherboard and psu and stuff be ok with the 1900XT.

i have noticed also the new stock of the BFG 7800 has gone up by £50 or more on overclockers... so what does that mean...

and the 1900XT seems to be way ahead of the 7800 now. but will i ever be able to get 2 of these... thats the question. should i keep with the BFG incase i ever get another to run in SLI.. or change over to the 1900XT...

what would be best. in terms of all round. gaming, work, power, temp, and so on...

edit*** looks up yep. i have that sli motherboard. so does that mean im only allowed the non crossfire version. and is it worth changing... the card.? :/

Two xt1900xt cards and one new crossfire motherboard is still cheaper then buying two 7800gtx 512mb cards..Plus you can sell your sli motherboard..

Or you could wait for the new geforce 7900 cards!!!

thats one of the first things i did.

thats why i posted lol. but they have released 4 lots of cards. wich one could i change from the 7800 to the ATI. wich one could i plug in my board at the mo. and would be the best. should i go for the crossfire edition or the bottem one the saphiere one..?

and i know i cant use crossfire but. nice to have it if i change boards one time. so... wich one out they realised... that can work with what i got...

ok...

i might change get the crossfire one. and change my motherboard also... to this one MSI RD480 Neo2 Crossfire (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-066-MS)

would that be best... can it still take all my other stuff. ??? help lol. i best send in the change before they send me the 7800.

All the ati cards will work in your motherboard..Just you can't run two of them in crossfire...The same as you can't run two 7800gtx in sli in a crossfire motherboard..

I know how your feeling..I want change from my shuttle to a normal size atx case..And i can't make my mind up if i should wait for the 7900gtx with sli or buy ati xt1900xt with a crossfire motherboard now...

You'll be best off waiting till March for the new ATi motherboard chipset RD580, much faster than the current RD480, so getting a RD480 chipset motherboard now is not a wise move with the faster chipset due, Id change to the x1900, it is faster, and cheaper than the 512mb GTX and will run fine on the motherboard you are getting, you can always get a Crossfire motherboard later on if/when you want to go Crossfire. :)

Welcome to the forums btw. :D

All your other parts should work together fine..
Am looking at this power supply for myself.

Enermax Liberty 620W ELT620AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CA-024-EN)

But it's a fair bit more then the hiper you got listed..

thanks for the help guys. i have sent in a order change to overclockers now. hopefully they can change the card pre-order without problems i have gone with the top one. the crossfire one. it looks awsome its a shame i dont get my BFG package with all me stickers :P but that was a overclocked card. and this am i right is a standard but more powerfull card. so its probably best.

and yeah i will wait till march then for the motherboard thanks for the heads up. i make sure i have that bookmarked.

thanks again guys.

all i got to do is make it. hmmm first build. any links on helping someone build a new system of these specs lol.

regards, ice

Hi,

lol my thoughts are....do you play any games or are you trying to have the latest hardware possible? :)

No matter how much money you spend or what you buy, it will be dated very quickly by some new hardware.

So you have to ask yourself, are you gonna get enough use out of a top-end graphics card in the next 3-6 months, because if all you are gonna do is read these forums and run 3Dmark your money is gonna be wasted.

There is some super graphics card going now for £150-£200 (thus saving you £100-£200 by *not* buying Bleeding-edge tech).

What you are doing is very typical of someone that is new to the hardware scene, trying to have the best best best!

What you will find is as soon as something newer comes out, all the fanatics will buy buy buy, and the card you thought was *uber* impressive is now average and cheap.

The mob is fickle :)

Remember spending money is fun and easy to do, earning it is not so easy, good luck and remember what I have told you in 6 months. . ;)

Yeah they'll be able to change it no worries, i cancelled my x1800 XT here as i found them elsewhere as the shipments were delayed here (no fault of OcUK's), so they sent my motherboard out straight away as i ordered a new one of those to, came the next day. :)

Hi there

RD580 is a lot faster than the RD480 boards with the ATI SB450 southbridge. However RD580 is only slightly quickers than the Asus and MSI boards equipped with the ULI southbridge. In fact I believe OcUK is exclusive Etailor on the MSI RD480 Neo board as ATI took all the other stock for their own systems. Also the pricing of the Asus and MSI Crossfire boards is extremely aggressive.

So RD580 boards will only offer a small performance boost over the ULI southbridge equipped motherboards (Asus & MSI) but RD580 does have a better feature array. :)

thanks for the more posts.

yeah i do both graphic design work. and play games a lot. i work on pc's and my laptop all the time. i got a acer ferrari 3400 about a yeah ago. and its awsome for what it is.

i just need a great pc to start the yeah. that will last me awhile. so im going for the best stuff i can afford right now wich will last me. so i need to get it right.

and thanks LoadsaMoney for that link. bookmarked that. i hope i can make my first pc together myself. would be nice. i did take my old one appart and put in new case.

i make sure i wear rubbler gloves :P

cheers, again. ice

you will probably need a bigger psu if you think you may go sli or x-fire. I can't speak for x-fire, but in sli, my 650w psu could do with being bigger ideally especially if you overclock the cards and cpu. I had had to remove some stuff to get it stable. I also know of another guy on this forum who is running 256 cards in sli and is getting psu problems at 580w
