So I started building a Mame Arcade Machine

Looks promising so far. Do you have a list of all the machines you're going to have on it?

How's the actual Hyperspin set up going? Do you have all your movies and themes sorted out yet?

Hyperspin 2.0 is on the horizon, which looks to include quite a few cool features.

I'm planning on creating my own setup in the new year. Want to do similar to you - MAME plus the main home consoles. Not sure if I'll have space/time/skills for the whole arcade cabinet, so I might go a different route and try and cram the components into as small a case as possible, and then have it as a portable emu machine that can plug and play anywhere you want it.

Nice, look forward to seeing the progress. Is there a full Sega Genesis video set available? I've only been briefly browsing so far, but couldn't spot one.

Have you been using EmuMovies?

Yep I have been using EmuMovies :) Its a fantastic resource.

Ive been working on the Control Panel the last few days, the layout is almost finished, just need to double check measurements on everything, I need some labels for the two trackball buttons but im struggling on something short to use, TB1 TB2 seems very lame but Trackball 1 Trackball 2 are too long really :/

Anyway....

Mario or Spiderman?

Little update, finished the control panel design, had a little issue with players 1/2 being very unevenly placed, so had to redo the entire centre section and bulk it out with more images from the picture, was a real pain!

But its been sent off now to be printed, so will start on a few more jobs next week, like routering the ducts for the 3 fans I have going on the inside, also need to find some 2.1 speakers that will be suitable for it and finally paint it!

can't wait to see the finished pics!

Had a few setbacks this week, redone the back top removable section as it wasn't very straight and was bugging me every time I saw it!

Also managed to finish the front bezel and mount the monitor, I was originally going to use some form of plexiglass but since I got my router back it was easier to just use the MDF, I might recess in some slightly smoked plexi in front of the monitor as it makes the colours really stand out. I've curved the edge around the screen as well. Routed the t-moulding grooves around the entire cabinet. The woodwork is pretty much finished except for the speaker hole and cooling fan slats. Then I can paint it while I wait for the Control Panel graphics to arrive (Currently in UK customs!).

How is this getting on? My uncle just done his, didn't take him long at all and well I now need one in my life. So much awesomeness.

This is cool. Now that MAME has HLSL and I'm finally happy with the look of things on a modern LCD I really want to build a cab. My ultimate master plan involves allowing the monitor to rotate for vertical games and having a rotatable control panel to switch between sticks and a steering wheel. Maybe some guns in holsters on the side :).

Would be good to see a pick of how yours is coming along.

I will do an update in the next week or so, ive just moved so been decorating and unfortunatly had to put the project aside for a bit. But im close at the wiring up stage now (speakers/buttons etc!).
