So it's official the Asus P8P67 range - Avoid?

I dont think nowadays it matters what you buy, for everyone who loves a product, there will always be people who hate it.

You spend your money and take your chances.

Asus P8P67 Deluxe here, will be looking to get the revision in the near future but have yet to encounter a issue. I've also upgraded to the latest bios and still not encountered an issue.

I got my problematic Asus refunded and got an MSI. The MSI just plain worked. What a blessed relief to have a motherboard that does what I paid for.

Asus do sell more boards than the others but from what I see, the Asus boards have the greatest number issues. I can't offer figures but it seems like Asus problems outweigh the sales ratio.

The P8p67 pro was not fully tested prior to being released for sale in my opinion. I for one am done with Asus.

I did not say I knew how many Asus boards were sold. Note I said "I can't offer figures". There was a poll on a thread here prior to Sandybridge release asking people which manufacturer of motherboard they intended to purchase. Asus was voted for by a large majority. What I intended to convey in the previous post was that it seems to me ,ratio acknowledged, that Asus have more problems than the other manufacturers.

In your first comment you stated Asus sell more boards.

Then you say you dont know how many were sold.

The `I can't offer figures` in your first post you are referring to Asus problems vs sales ratios does it not?

I can't offer figures but it seems like Asus problems outweigh the sales ratio.

Can you back this up with some figures?

It is the old situation again, people only comment when they have something negative to say. The iPhone 4, Windows Vista, PS3 etc all received bad public opinion because people who had bad experiences shouted loud, whilst the people who were content shut up and enjoyed their purchase.

I dont think nowadays it matters what you buy, for everyone who loves a product, there will always be people who hate it.

Couldn't agree more. People are quick to complain when they have a problem and jump on the bandwagon.

My Deluxe I had nothing but praise for, untill after a month or so issues started to appear.

It was just horrible to work with and ask it to do anything remotely taxing. I went to a 4 day LAN with it and I saw a BSOD every day. I even remeber where it happened. 1) Plugging my Xbox controller to charge, 2) Exiting Dirt 2, 3) Exiting F1 2010 4) Starting Mumble. I was running only on the 6gbps ports then so not sata related.

My 4.6ghz OC then became VERY unstable and would do nothing than stock. The supplied disc would not install drivers and software. Feels like im constantly watching for BIOS updates and fixes to resolve the most obvious of bugs?

In comparison the UD7 is a god send, It just works. For a laugh the software straight away found a profile to go 4.2ghz which it did and is stable. I have also gone back to 4.6ghz and its prime stable.

Its been on for a week now with no shut down to check for stabilty and its been fine. Not even had a BIOS update yet from F2. The disc worked first time and installed all software and drivers in 5 minutes.

While I like Asus products I always seem to have nothing but issues with there mainboards.

Touchy aren't we?

If you scroll through the threads on ocuk you will find a topic whereby members were asked to vote for the motherboard they intended to purchase (Did you miss that bit in the previous post? Looks like you did.)

Anyway, Asus sales forecast on that poll exceeded most other manufacturers by a factor of three.

I'm sure you will fail to accept the reasoning here.

Yes it seems you are.:)

No I did not miss anything, seems you are a little confused.:)

Did you miss this post? It refers to the ratio of Asus boards sold against Gigabyte boards.

I own a P8P67 DELUXE, not had a single issue yet.

Also you will see more negitive reviews on Asus boards, considering we sell 5 times as many Asus boards to gigabyte boards.

Everything still sweet and dandy here after a week...My B3 came with EFI 1401. Upgraded straight to 1505 before installing windows. Overclocked to 4.5...(That is enough for me). Seems rock solid after intel burn test, aida64 stability test and prime95...

Never buying another Asus product again, partly because of the utter hopelessness of the P8P67 Pro I bought and partly because of their pathetic attitude to the RMA process for the chipset issue.

Have you got another replacement for the Pro and if so, what did you go with?

Have been looking at the Asrock P67 Extreme4 myself...

Everyone's experience is going to be anecdotal, considering most people only see the performance of one or two motherboards, which is always going to give a skewed sample set :)

As NatWraith said, OcUK sell about 5 times as many Asus boards as Gigabyte boards, so you're going to see a lot more people on the forums who are Asus users. And complainers are going to be a lot more vocal than the people happily using their systems :) The only figures that count are RMA. Every manufacturer has had problems before their B3 revision, so not sure any anecdotal evidence is really relevant.

One thing I will say though, is people saying their Gigabyte UD7 board is great - I'm glad it is, it OUGHT to be, it's a £300 piece of kit, you can't compare it to an entry level £135 board like the P8P67!

Regardless, I had a deluxe which was coming upto £200. If I buy a £1000 car I expect it to work the same as one costing £4000. It may not have all the mod cons but it should do the job, Which my P8P67 struggled to do. The UD5 would be a compariable replacement and that is just as good.
