So.. I've been busy (shiny new parts inside)

So I finally started work on fabricating something to mount my Gizzmo and Defi gauge controller. Cut out the cigarette lighter and ashtray from the dash and filled in with fibreglass. Next stages are to smooth over with filler, sand down, cut the holes and then wrap in Di-Noc.

Will hopefully it filled and sanded tomorrow :)

I did similar to my own car I had a while back. The standard IC for the Cavalier Turbo is tiny and 3/4 of it sits behind the front headlamp. I removed it, modified the bumper and slapped a FMIC on there about 4 times the size of the original.

At the time there was no real FMIC on the market so I had a place make me up a custom one and fitted it myself....

Pic here (some of it is behind the blue mesh) -

Added circa 35BHP and 25lb/ft torque to the car.

Well worth the effort

Thanks for the tip, but there is no way the pipe can hit the fan blades. It's extra stiff and would struggle to hit them even if I pushed it down :p

cool :D, my sx is comming on the road next month, going to go through the whole gizzmo settings myself.

not that it will be the same for me but what gain/duty is yours set at?

I can't remember exactly, but the gain is set rather low to avoid overboost (less than 10 if I remember) and duty set quite high (mid 70s?). This gives me around 17psi peak trailing off to around 13-14 at high revs.

When I get it all fitted properly next week I will write them down for you :)

cool, i'm going to 15psi, just running t28 atm. when the turbo dies im going to go t28r and get s15 injectors. target power is 300-310.

running auto diff so its already pretty fast accelerating

Sweet ride! I had an S13 at Stage 2. After having other cars it still sits at the top by miles as being the best car I ever had, I miss it. :(

Avoid the t28r, no point really. Same as t28 just BB, spools up tiny bit faster but really no point. 2871r .64 housing is what you want for road use, fantastic buuletproof we turbo, had one on my own. s15 injectors good call 480cc but personally would go straight to nismo 555's especially as thats what the 3a HDEV chip is set for, if your going down that common route,

Custom mapping is the way forward everytime though, I had a HDEV forged engine in my last s14a with 2871, i then changed to some 264 cams, gt3071r and binned the AFM and got a d-jetro powerFC, custom mapped. Was a bit of a animal... to be fair lol.

My R34 gets its Link G4 ecu this week and setup and new clutch. Canny wait. Antilag for giggles too

the spool on the 2871r isnt that great, i prefer the fun of a fast spool, also a new t28r can be had for like £600 where as the GT2871r is £800-900 without actuator.

stage 3a with the 555's and 2871r "should" see 350bhp but its not what im after, i've said from the start ill be happy with stage 2a (290-310) as stage 2 torque is a lot better then 1a.

with the 480's it will be custom mapped by Jez (h-dev) no one else i would trust.

what clutch you going for?, i got a stupid paddle 5 atm and its stupidly harsh, and its only a 5, i dont want to imagine a 6

your the lad with the red "philip ray" GTT right?. how does the GTT feel comming from a 3a sx?. i bet it feels so different yet suprisingly similar?

just buy a used s15 turbo, about £300 will get you one in that case. Nice enough, had one on my s15...oddly enough lol.

I had a stage 2 s14a aswell, yes there fairly sharp but really a 2871 is not a laggy turbo, very very usable. 1.4 bar in one is a lot of fun, ran mine up to 1.6 bar and after 25k mile was completely like new (pity the chap i sold it to fitted it without a oil restricter and killed it in few days lol)

I seen somewhere on sxoc recently, one the big turbo outlets selling 2871r for £600 mate, shop about.

I had a RPS street in my s14a.
Sadly cant get any the usual ACT or the likes for my R34, going for a exedy paddle not overly cheap but, will see

lol aye thats my motor, the controversial photo shoot.

hmm, 3a is pretty savage, but to be honest it was a bit tame by time i fitted the gt3071 and 264 crower cams and valve springs and run 1.6 bar through it lol.

The R34 is fun enough but its not just how i want it, at the minute, running Emanage ecu and a standard clutch it just is not my muga'. Hence this work this week, i will then actually want to go and put some miles on it. Just not overly happy with the emanage map on it, i had a look and its using the entire standard ignition table apart from 1 degree has been knocked off it everywhere across the entire map, fuel table has a bit of work but just not ideal at all.

Its only running 0.8 bar boost, boost controller is turned off completely just using actuator pressure, so boost is a bit more lazy. But, it will be run at 1.5 bar this week through the AVCR already fitted for control, AFM is going in the bin and 5bar map sensor will be fitted instead and full custom map

then we shall be cooking, lol

AS for comparing the feel, i have had 5 s14a's, a S15 and 3 R33's and now the R34, its all kinda one big blurr lol.

Had the Exedy Paddle on my R34 it felt like a very heavy standard clutch and it was nicer than any of the snatchy twin plates I'd tried (Nismo and OsG) but you needed a strong left leg in traffic :D

I am used to it, had a ACT heavy paddle in the R33, heavy heavy organic in last S14a, Cusco twin in evo 8.

I actually like it now, none of this flaffing about with bite points. Just let it out, side step if wish. Organic just feels not sporty anymore... IMO. Its a weekend car, i want it to feel aggressive
