So, marriage

I have to ask. Why?

I don't really understand marriage as it is but I'm curious as to why people repeatedly marry.

Genuinely interested, not being judgey.
Practice makes perfect, and I needed a lot of it
I should have included 1 child with each of No. 1 and No. 2 and being very conventional you get married
In my case, I didn’t really know/understand myself until my late 40’s so made bad decisions
I used to scoff at self help books and counselling but there is truth to be found with a new perspective
Anyway No. 3 - when you click, you click
Ironically, after my experiences, I don’t want my kids to get married
Humans are a funny lot, well I am certainly

This is a good one.
My wife's best mate has been married 3 times and so has her first husband.
They got married when they were 19 and had 3 kids but went their separate ways when they were around 28.
Around 6 years ago in their early 60s they realised they were made for each other and got married again :)
This time they have been very happy and definitely looks like it will stay that way.

Met when we were both 20. Together for 20 years, married for nearly 10. We have 3 children - 5 month old twins and a 5 year old. We’ve been through a lot, he had leukaemia at 23. But we’ve been lucky to have our children via surrogacy.

Typically, I can't remember how long my partner and I have been together, but we've been together somewhere north of 22 years, and we are not married. Tempting just for any unforeseen legal reasons and of course love, but I really think marriage is an old-fashioned thing that needs to bugger off :D

There really should be a cheap version of marriage just for people like myself who don't want or need the fuss but need the paperwork for legal reasons ;)

For those not married if suggest you getting power of attorney for each other for finance and health.

Saves a lot of hassle and covers your bases, allowing you to make decisions on their behalf if they can't or die.
