Why even watch them to look at something that is a product you look at? I watch a vid. on a backlit keyboard, looked bright enough. I order it, got here yesterday, so dim & I had my lamp off. It makes no sense to not show it unaltered.I mean am I nuts, or when looking at something that is for looking at like a motor/backlit keyboard, it should be shown as it is IRL. To have it otherwise is just BAD for a reveiw video. It might just be a issue with me, since I have vision issues.

Review videos are useful to show what the item is like… but it all depends on the reviewer, if the reviewer doesn’t match your ”style” then their opinions are worthless.

there‘s also a load of review videos that are sponsored, and the reviewer is likEly to say it’s good, while it’s not..

also if it’s a “cheap” brand, then quality control for the item may not be a 100%

the best way around it is to watch more than one review and check actual buyers written review, if in doubt ask questions about it…

What keyboard?
Review videos are good for a quick look before you pay your own cash. But you have to look at multiple not just one.

Just in this particular example part of the issue could be the camera. The reviewer may or may not have altered the footage after the fact, but if filming on something like a mobile phone the video will effectively have been heavily processed anyway, which might result in the back-light looking brighter.

Currently eyeing up an insta360 x3 and as usual I will review many video's and a few sites before buying and knowing what package is suitable to me.

Those that are sponsored by that product, I usually avoid, unless it is someone that doesn't give a ****.

Who reviews the reviewers that review the reviewers?

What's wrong with reading actual customer reviews?
A lot of companies game the review system on popular websites.
Most people don't know how to give detailed reviews and will miss key things in their review.
Most people will only buy one product and will not be able to compare it to other products in the market meaning a potential buyer cannot properly compare the value of similar products.

People should collect as much information as possible before buying a product. So use both video and customer reviews.

Are you sure you have the brightness all the way up? Most backlit keyboards are adjustable in this regard.

I watch a bunch, draw a comparison, take some subjective opinions with giant pinch of salt and try to judge it more objectively.

Like for keyboards, it might sound great but there are a lot of variables for that to sound on the video, so you kinda have to see how that sounds in the context of all other videos that creator has made, at least you hope their recording is consistent.

I do watch them before buying. But I watch a lot of them rather than just one. That way you get a better perspective of the item and one reviewer may mention something the others have missed.

This is the correct answer. You can't just look at a single review; if your money is valuable to you, then watch multiple reviews
