So....Saabs...

Lots.

my T5 is faster than that, and still manages to feel boring. But then the S60 is supposed to be a comfortable cruiser. Its not supposed to be exciting and interesting to drive.

I think the word is 'unruffled' ;)

Many cars are so well refined and insulated these days (relatively speaking) that you don't get the same sensation of speed at 70mph+. But put your T5 engine into an old Astra and it will probably feel 'exciting' when you accelerate because you won't have the composure or sound insulation of the S60, and the car will be jerking left and right everytime you floor the accelerator.

Seriously, cars that have on the seat of your pants every time you go down the road or round a corner can be tiring to drive. I always used to have my heart in my mouth going round a fast bend in the wet in my 323i for example, or I would have tip toe around carefully and you wouldn't describe that as 'exciting'. I came from grotty Notts from Stansted earlier today and on the way bank blasted past various cars on the A road. I wouldn't have said my 323i was more exciting doing that (though I do miss the noise of a straight six and the smoother drivetrain in traffic).

All depends on what you want and how much you're prepared to pay.

Saabs are slow and boring, I seriously like them. Not into this speed stuff. They are practical and safe, main thing for a family man, and also come in a wide range of engines.

Mine aint. Hircsh remap 300 to 330bhp, 0 to 60 between 5.8 and 6.1 to 60 for a 2 ton lump. Bit of lag in throttle response then woooosh.

MrLoL please can I take you for a passenger ride in my mini. You've had a lolvo for too long and have forgotten what excitement feels like. :D :)

You didn't say that when you were driving a Vectra Turbo before, which is vauxhalls version of the same car :D

What are the differences between the 9-3 and the 9-5? I have an '07 TFSI Leon FR and have a huge irrational urge to flog it and get an autobox 9-5 to waft about in.

Been looking at remaps - takes it to 240bhp from 210 and 355nm from 300, nice increase :)

Unless you go down the tuning route big time (in which case you'd probably be better off buying a different car), Hirsch'ing an Aero is of debatable benefit in my view. £600-£700 just for the stage 1 and 30bhp doesn't really seem worth it and the front wheels are likely to struggle to cope with that amount of power. Even though my car has crappy front tyres, it does occasionally struggle to cope with 195bhp when you floor the throttle in 2nd. Barrow boy maps are cheaper but the results are reportedly mixed, not least because Trionic 8 is quite a complex system and the view seems to be that you really need access to manufacturer data to have a good map ie Hirsch (manufacturer approved) or Maptun.

I was going to go to Abbots - what Wes doesn't know about these cars isn't worth knowing, I think its £400ish from memory.

Anyone notice that the trip computer seems to be woefully inaccurate?

I got 370 miles from a tank (12 gallons brim to brim of pricey V-power) and its saying average mpg is 35.7mpg?

Mine was hilarious in my old 9-3...for the amount of pixels that did work that is :D

I'm praying that the one I have my eye on doesn't sell before my money clears! :(
