...I mean GB size of course.

Just about the press the button on either a 128 GB M4 or a 256GB M4....

I don't have much in the way of games...so mainly W7 , Full MS Office, Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom also a number of smallish programs such as Casper, Nero, DVD Shrink and the like. Excluding W7 it roughly looks like 6GB or so I think at the moment.

I intend to put all my docs/music/films and pictures onto my HDDs (1TB of data on 2TB drive)

I run Casper to mirror a bootable backup of my current HHD every few days and intend to create an "SSD" partition on one of the 2TB HDDS I use to back the SSD up.

From what I read 128GB should be more than enough ? Reasonable assumption ? Or shall I double my spend and get the 256GB. Common sense says go for the 128GB but common sense rarely enters into this sort of thing....;)

If you can afford the 256Gb then I'd get that.

Generally as a rule of thumb, the larger the drive the faster they become, but check reviews/benchmarks 1st.

And the years to come, the programs will get larger, so get the most larger drive now so you won't get short in the near future.. ;)

Best regards.. :)

Would give me a lot more space for flexibility for sure...... :)

I'm running on a Gigabyte GA-MA790XT so "only" SATA II but thats fine for me for now.....

I used to run my own networks and PC back in the early 90's...when I imported the first 108MB drives people were shocked at the jump from 40 to 80 and then to 108MB...I bought them, 500 at a time, for £85 and sold them to the trade for £95 and they retailed at £115..how times have changed

First 1TB SSD ?

In reality...at the moment...it would seem the most pragmatic way to use an SSD in a PC. Until those 1,2 and 3TB drives appear at sub £100

Probably enough for just about everyone and the HDD as the program and data drive. The 256GB would last a long time mind you..

I'll have a think about it and make my mind up tomorrow :D

I honestly would not buy a 1tb SSD, not much hope of it being very reliable. Unless it were an Intel drive with 5 year warranty, and then it would cost a fortune.
